Air Radiators win best presentation at Geelong Manufacturing Council’s Excellence Program
Following hosting local businesses and schools at their Lara premises, Air Radiators has continued to act on efforts to assist youth to be ‘job ready’ and promote manufacturing in the local area.

A second meeting was held this week at the Geelong Industry Trade Training Centre in Corio to further discuss methods to get youth ready to work in full-time positions and grow awareness of jobs in the manufacturing industry.

More local businesses from the area who are experiencing the same employment obstacles were invited and also expressed their interest into improvements methods.

Acting on this, Air Radiators has employed three individuals from the Northern Future Scheme as part of a six-week paid employment program.

During the six weeks, the individuals are working within the fabrication, heat exchange and maintenance departments experiencing genuine full-time work experience.

This opportunity provides the benefits of receiving full time paid work to put on their resumes, a professional reference, experiencing two-way feedback to work through obstacles, and importantly, learning what it means to be work ready.

Various employees from the Northern Futures program have resulted in full time work at Air Radiators with two still employed at present.

The aim of partnering with local schools and businesses is to have more people applying for manufacturing jobs and being ready to work when they get here – that being having developed their soft skills such as working an entire shift, turning up on time and having the energy to work a full day.

Air Radiators have been heavily involved with local programs in the past conducting school group tours on the Air Radiators site, presentations to students at local schools, engaging with programs such as Northern Futures and Diversitat’s Hand Brake program and providing relevant work experience across operations, engineering, administration and sales.

In terms of engineering, Air Radiators are currently affiliated with Deakin University and offer frequent engineering internships.

Last week, Air Radiators engineering representatives exhibited at the DeakinTALENT Experience and Employment Expo (EEExpo) to talk to undergraduate and postgraduate students about the Air Radiators workplace, products and capabilities.
